The Stanley Hotel is notable for a few reasons, and one of them is not that it's in Estes Park, Colorado. The three star colonial revival hotel lies among the Rocky Mountain National Park, and became a global household name when it inspired Stephen King's infamous horror novel, The Shining.
Boasting its haunted history and claim to fame, the hotel has since been turned into a horror museum, and guests still check in to see if they can find any ghosts. Though he didn't experience The Shining IRL, one lucky guest and The Shining fan, Henry Yau, took a panoramic photo to commemorate his stay and found something odd when looking back at it.
"When I took it, I didn't notice anything," Yau toldKPRC 2, but he saw something strange when he zoomed into the picture. Yau noticed what appeared to be a woman in a black dress standing next to the child, and posted his find to Facebook with a red circle highlighting the supernatural presence in the photo. He captioned it, "By golly! I think I may have captured a #ghost at #StanleyHotel. #EstesPark."
9 News then sent the photo to a "paranormal investigator" to check its legitimacy. Kevin Sampron and his team at Spirit Paranormal Investigations "ran the image through a variety of tests and filters" to ensure it wasn't tampered with, and concluded that this ghost is legit. Though, when asking someone whose job relies on people believing in the existence of ghosts to verify such information, chances are their opinion isn't exactly solid.
