Russia Is Looking to Buy Five Dolphins to Take Part In "Combat Operations"

Must have no physical problems, and perfect teeth.

The Russian defence ministry is looking for new recruits. But not humans. They’re looking for dolphins. Yes, really.

Public contract documentation upload to official government a websites has revealed that they are seeking to buy two female and three male dolphins, between three and five years old. They must also be healthy with no physical problems, and have perfect teeth. The dolphins will be used for military tasks, and the contract is apparently worth 1.75m rubles (£17,000), if you have some dolphins going spare and can get them to a seaport in the Crimea.

While this might seem mad AF, animals being used for military operations is not a new thing. Of course dogs and horses have been a regular fixture of armies, and according to The Guardian:

Dolphins were used by the Soviet Union and United States at the height of the cold war, having been trained to detect submarines, underwater mines and spot suspicious objects or individuals near harbours and ships.

It puts Free Willy in a whole new light, to be honest.
