Video surfaced earlier this month of a Baltimore City Schools Police officer assaulting a student while another officer stood and watched. Now, both officers are facing criminal charges.

Local CBS affiliate WJZ released the video on March 1, spurring investigations within the Baltimore Police Department. It shows an officer now identified as Anthony Spence hitting, kicking, and cursing at an unidentified student at REACH! Partnership School, one of seven schools in Baltimore where police are stationed.

Another officer, now identified as Saverna Bias, stood nearby while it happened.

Warning: The following video contains footage that some may find disturbing.

According to Maryland Judiciary case records, Spence has been charged with second-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, and misconduct in office. Bias is facing charges of second-degree assault and misconduct in office.

Both officers turned themselves in Tuesday night after charges were filed, according to a statement from the Baltimore Police Department.

"The Baltimore City School Police Department will continue to handle the internal investigation into this incident," the statement reads.

Baltimore Police Department did not immediately return NTRSCTN's request for comment.
