Every so often, you get the urge to revitalize your life in creative ways.

But if you're like most millennials and have less than $1,000 to your name, you have to be really clever to implement change. That's why Redditor Path819 asked: "What's the best way to upgrade the quality of my life for under $1,000?"

From getting your savings on track to getting a good night's sleep, here are three ways you can easily make a difference in your life for less than a grand:

1. Save

The most popular answer among Redditors was to save your money.

Although practical, it's undeniable that saving doesn't satisfy cravings for instant gratification. But Redditors agree that saving contributes to longterm happiness and helps you set up a safety net.

"Save it. The amount of stress saved by having a $1,000 buffer in your bank account is incredibly valuable. Things that would normally be a massive life crisis like a broken car, an emergency room visit, or needing a lawyer become so much less stressful when you don't have to worry about where you're going to get the money from," Metallink11 wrote.

Redditor rlbond86 agreed, saying, "Every person needs an emergency fund. $1,000 is just a start, you need 3-6 months worth of expenses saved up eventually."

Don't hold off on saving up; it feels nice knowing you have a just-in-case fund.

2. Clean your sh*t up

For those of us who don't have a whole grand, cleaning is the best cost-free life improvement.

Clear your calendar for a day, and spend the time throwing out all the sh*t you don't need anymore. You'll be surprised by how good it'll make you feel.

"Go through your crap, figure out what you don't need, or even want anymore and get rid of it. It's amazing how much better or free you feel when your life isn't cluttered. (this one is free or might even make you some $ since you are getting rid of stuff)

Invest the rest in retirement."

Once you rid your home of junk, it might be time to hit your inbox, phone contacts, or Facebook friends to shed some of that trash, too.

3. Invest in your bed

If you've been sleeping on your money game, one good use of cash is to invest in your actual sleeping game. The best way to do that is to spring for a quality bed.

Redditor Izzy1790 wrote, "Get yourself a good bed. Mattress, box spring, pillows, sheets, the whole nine. Good rest is key to a good life, IMO anyways."

They weren't the only one who thought a new bed leads to life improvement. Redditor Forisen was completely on board with the suggestion, adding: "Major key."

Investing in your bed won't be that expensive, either. Redditor Mrc0516 broke down the costs: "12-inch memfoam mattress (Lucid): ~$450, 1200 TC Egyptian Cotton sheets (made in Egypt, which IS important): $80-$150 set. Queen memfoam mattress base (also Lucid): $50. Lots left of that $1000!"

Whether its saving money, cleaning house, or creating a sleep haven, improving your quality of life can be fairly simple—and sometimes totally free.
