Asking for a raise can be awkward.

For some reason, it feels a little bit like asking your parents for money. But why? It’s not like you’re living in your boss's basement rent-free and eating their leftovers. Your relationship with your boss is transactional, and it’s up to you to make sure the trade-off is fair.
