Just a few weeks after announcing on "Today" that she has breast cancer, E! News host Giuliana Rancic told Ann Curry that she's decided to treat the cancer by having a double mastectomy.
“It was not an easy decision but it was the best decision for me,” she said. "“I want to make sure to thank everyone and give them an update for being so kind and loving and supportive."
Rancic said after the procedure, which involves either partial or full removal of the breasts, she would have less than a one percent chance of the cancer returning. Had she chosen to forego the procedure, chances of it returning ballooned to "20 to 30 or even 40 percent."
Our thoughts are with Ms. Rancic and her family.
