Charlize Theron Says Being Single Has Been Good For Her

Back in January of 2010, Charlize Theron broke up with Irish actor Stuart Townshend, who she was in a relationship with for almost a decade. That type of break-up can take a serious toll on a person. Theron, however, found the break-up somewhat therapeutic.

“I’ve never been single,” she tells Vogue. “This is the first time in my life. From the time I was nineteen, I’ve been in relationships, literally gone from one to the other within a month. It’s been good for me. I’m a creature who’s really found her comfort zone in relationships. It’s been nice to rediscover myself. I had to make a real conscious effort to do it—it’s hard. It’s much easier to lose yourself in flowers and cigarettes and coffee with somebody else.”

Of course she did some of that by getting back on the screen. Theron stars in "Young Adult," which is in theaters December 9th. Peep the trailer.
