When Christina Milian went to dinner at L.A. restaurant Mexicali last week, we imagine the last the thing on her mind was that she was going to have a freakish incident with her meal. But according to a report at TMZ, that's exactly what happened.
She ordered a Kobe beef salad, and instead of biting into just bits of lettuce, she noticed something much more chewy in her mouth. She spit it out and a wad of already-chewed chewing gum, which may have come from an employee at the restaurant, landed on her plate. She immediately hit the bathroom and threw up.
The restaurant reportedly comped her meal, but a representative for L.A. Department of Health confirmed that Christina did, in fact, file a complaint.
"The most important thing to me is to make sure my health is okay," Milian told TMZ. "Ever since the incident I have not eaten out."
For his part, Mexicali's owner, Allen Ravert, is defending his restaurant against claims that it's unsanitary.
“We have been here for over 17 years and always had an A rating from the health department," he told TMZ. "We have cameras in our kitchen and didn’t see anything. Our cooks don’t chew gum. Whether there was gum in [Christina's salad] or not I couldn’t say – I never saw it.”
