If you want access to Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' big day, you're going to have to empty your bank account.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, that's what PEOPLE mag is doing, shelling out $1 million for exclusive coverage of their forthcoming wedding. But they're not doing so without trepidation.
Last month, PEOPLE paid Kim $300,000 for her to appear on their cover with news of her engagement to Humphries. A source says the issue sold well, but not as well as they'd hoped, leaving magazine editors to wonder if Kim's star may be waning. The concern is whether the wedding issue will sell well enough to make back the million dollars PEOPLE is spending to cover it.
"PEOPLE's Kim engagement cover sold well, but did not as well as they hoped," said a source. "Over a million copies were sold, which is good but not their best. And when you spend that much on a cover story, you expect it to sell."
For their part, PEOPLE is staying mum. "We never comment on this sort of speculation," said a rep for the mag.
So is Kim. "Nope, not true at all," said her rep. "No deals have been made for the wedding."
