Name: Melissa
Age: 30
Occupation: Graphic Designer
Home Base: Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
What's your guilty pleasure? All kinds of sweets. And Friday Night Lights.
Dealbreaker for a guy: If he has bad taste in music or if he's consistently flaky.
What is your go-to drink? Soy latte or vodka soda with lime, depending on the time of day.
What's your best/worst date? Best dates start with a good plan and end up being totally spontaneous, going from place to place, loosing track of time etc. (BTW , day dates can be the best.) My worst date started off good: dinner, good conversation, until he wanted to "show me his furniture designs." His apartment turned out to be filthy, smelled like feet and he could only offer me water from a 7-11 cup. Word to the wise: have good hygiene for yourself and your apartment, and have real glasses in your cupboard.
Biggest turn-on: Humor and polite confidence.

Biggest trend turn-off on a guy: T-shirts with scroll-y prints that creep up the shoulder, and too-tight stretch jeans that only girls should wear.
Favorite rap song of all time: Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth "They Reminisce Over You"
Favorite sports team: East Dillon Lions.
Who/what inspires your style? I'm inspired by some of my girlfriends, picking up pieces and styles while traveling and, honestly, just people watching in my neighborhood.
What city/country has the best style? New York and Stockholm.
What movie best captures your style? I'd love to say some French '60s film starring Brigitte Bardot, but I don't think that's true.
Who has wack style? Midtown Manhattan.
What trend do you want to see die? Lumberjack beards.
Last clothing item you purchased? Multi-colored suede flats from a flea market.
Most money you ever spent on a single item of clothing? $345 on some No.6 ankle boots.
Favorite website?: I like designsponge.com, saturdaysnyc.com and ffffound.com.
What do you collect? Ethnic-looking bags from other countries.
What is your favorite brand? I don't have a favorite, but I like Helmut Lang, Rachel Comey, No.6, and Zara.
What is your favorite tech gadget? My iPhone and Nikon D90 camera.
What do guys dig about your style? That it's usually form fitting without being slutty. And high-waisted pants.
What's the most common statement people make about your style? That it's pretty eclectic, and it varies from day to day.
What's the item currently in your closet you most regret buying? Beautiful vintage boots that are still too small no matter how many times I have them stretched.
What do you see as the next big trend? Gypsy.
What is your favorite city? Rio de Janeiro and Paris (that I've visited so far).
What is your dream job? Selling gorgeous, fair-trade, handmade stuff to wealthy city-folk.
Who is your dream date? A smart surfer with an old woody station wagon and a dog.
Last book read: "Same Kind of Different As Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.
What is your trend proof style advice for our readers? Know what looks good on your body type (you cannot pull off all styles), and don't be scared of bright lipstick on occasion.
