#5: CASSIE
Why We Loved Her In 2009: Cassie spent most of '09 trying (and failing) to put out her obviously-doomed sophomore album, but we'll have a thing for this Bad Girl even if she never sings another note. In '09 she flipped Amber's shaved head steez in her own way, inspiring a million copycats (you probably know five). Also, we're still recovering from those leaked nude photos. Wow.

#4: BEYONCÉ
Why We Loved Her In 2009: The hottest chick in the game started '09 off with a career high, performing for the Obama's first dance at the Inaugural Ball. It was such a great moment that it almost makes us forget about her terrible Fatal Attraction rip-off Obsessed and the endless string of Sasha Fierce singles that no one really seemed to care about. With no new album, it was a relatively low-key year for B, but she still looked impossibly bad (meaning good) every time she set foot in public.

#3: ROSA ACOSTA
Why We Loved Her In 2009: Video chicks are basically extinct in the era of low-budget, hoe-less Rik Cordero videos, but Rosa Acosta became the new poster girl for impossibly thick dime pieces when she stretched it out in Drake's "Best I Ever Had" video this summer. Every photo shoot she's done since—especially that out-of-control Terry Richardson x Supreme shoot—has had us absolutely drooling for more. Incredible.

#2: AMBER ROSE
Why We Loved Her In 2009: Kanye started dating this beautiful bald Philly chick back in February, instantly taking her from obscure video model to one of the sexiest women in the tabloid world. It seemed like Kanye used her as his canvas, taking her shopping and styling her in sexy, fashion-forward ways that complimented his own steez. Also, we loved every minute of her exclusive Complex shoot—especially the part where she took off all her clothes and pulled out a leather whip. It's art!

#1: RIHANNA
Why We Loved Her In 2009: Yeah, her album was a steaming turd, but make no mistake—2009 was all about Rihanna. After the infamous Chris Brown beating in February, all eyes were on Ri Ri, watching as she popped up around the globe wearing dark glasses and increasingly absurd fashion statements. No matter how crazy she looked, we loved her for her unpredictable originality and the take-no-shit attitude she oozed all year. Oh, and leaked naked photos FOR THE FUCKING WIN!
