Complex's new weekly feature "Who's That Girl?" spotlights an up-and-coming woman we've got our eye on.
From Jamie Lee Curtis to Neve Campbell, there's a long tradition of so-called "Scream Queens" we love. But who's the next horror movie hottie to break out? Meet Jocelin Donahue, the star of this weekend's indie fright fest The House of the Devil. The movie, which is a throwback to classic '80s horror, is getting rave reviews, in no small part due to the breakout performance of the film's striking leading lady. But Jocelin didn't just pop up out of the blue—she's been hustling in Hollywood for a few years now, turning heads in TV commercials and landing smaller parts in movies. Keep reading to watch the 5 scenes that made us take notice of Jocelin Donahue...
TRIPPING BALLS IN A ZUNE COMMERCIAL (2007)
Jocelin got her feet wet by appearing in a number of advertisements, most prominently in this trippy Zune spot called "The Ballad of Tina Pink." She also flirted with Nick Lachay in an Axe commercial (this one) and played a girl in a phonebooth in a popular Levi's ad (this one).
SPOOFING MISCHA BARTON IN NOT ANOTHER HIGH SCHOOL SHOW (2007)
Jocelin shows her comedy skills in this Comedy Central pilot that spoofed teen shows like The OC and Dawson's Creek. Unfortunately, the show never got picked up, but the first episode was recently made available at the iTunes in a new series called "The Lost Pilots."
HIDING IN THE ROOT CELLAR IN THE BURROWERS (2008)
Before landing the leading lady role in The House of the Devil, Jocelin got some experience in the indie horror world by playing a small part in this frontier fright fest. This is a scene from the beginning of the movie where she first gets attacked/kidnapped by the mysterious "Burrowers." Can you dig it?
PLAYING "CUTE GIRL" IN HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU (2009)
Okay, granted, Jocelin was only in this rom-com smash for literally 20-seconds near the end of the movie, but here it is. She was credited as "cute girl," which is saying a lot when the film also features Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, and Jennifer Aniston. She definitely lives up to the name.
BREAKING OUT IN THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (2009)
Garnering comparisons to slim, throwback brunette beauties like Karen Allen and Margot Kidder, Jocelin is poised for big things after this Tribeca Film Festival hit finally opens this weekend. In it, she plays Samantha, a college student who takes a babysitting job at a mysterious mansion. She soon finds out that there are no babies to sit, just creepy old Satanists who want to use her in a ritual.
