Study Shows One in Three Young Adults Live With Parents

A recent study has revealed that over one third of people between the ages of 18 and 31 lives with their parentsthe highest total in 40 years. The study, published by the Pew Research Institute, found that 36 percent of that demographic lived with their parents last year. That's 21.6 million people, up 3 million from the 18.5 that were living at home when the Recession began in 2007.

Furthermore, Pew learned that 1 out of every three young adults still living at home were students. Those between the ages of 18 and 24 were more likely to stay at home, and 40 percent of men were more likely to stay in the nest compared to 32 percent of women.

The study credited the new high to an increase in unemployment and college tuition, as well as a decrease in marriages.
