Originally the George Washington Houses Playground of East Harlem, the city probably decided that name was too long and changed it to East Harlem Cherry Tree Park, paying homage to George Washington. Today, the playground is an ideal setting for a family outing, especially for those who like to shoot hoops. Redone in 1996, the Cherry Tree Park features not one but three basketball courts that are just a little smaller than regulation-size. Ball all day!
