Ariel Castro, the man accused of holding Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus captive in his Cleveland home for nearly a decade, has been offered a plea deal that could potentially save his life. According to WKYC, prosecutors have drawn up a deal that would not include the death penalty; Castro is said to be considering it, but there has been no official word on whether or not he will accept.

Castro, who was arrested in May, has been charged with 977 counts of rape, gross sexual conduct, assault, child endangerment and aggravated murder. The aggravated murder charges could be punishable by the death penalty.
