25 Things You Start Doing When You Move to a City Image via kn3.net

1. Having More Casual Hookups

In smaller communities, the neighbors are often as knowledgeable about your love life as you are. From your first kiss to your last college hook-up, the morning after is spent fielding text messages and thumbs ups from friends, acquaintances, and people you barely know. The big city offers anonymity. There are many times that the facelessness of the city is scary or depressing, but there are situations when it has its benefits. For the first time in your life, you can meet someone without seeing somebody you know peering over your shoulder, looking for gossip. You can actually get to know someone without running into their friends, their ex, or their baby sister, and it is liberating.

In high school and college, when you hooked up with someone and felt differently after the swells of passion subsided, you had to see them in chemistry lab and debate club. Now that you've moved to the city, you'll probably never see them again, unless you want to. Of course, the flip side of this is that if you do actually like a girl that you spent the night with, there is a decent probability that she won't text you back. But, on the bright side, it's unlikely you'll run into her and be forced to make awkward conversation, unless she's your roommate. Don't have sex with your roommate.
