10 Reasons Summer in New York City is the Worst Image via wordpress.com

4. Nightlife Explodes

Sex is in the air throughout a New York summer. Summer is all about women in short skirts and men in muscle-enhancing v-necks. Sounds great, right? Not really. If you are in heat like most of NYC, you're going to encounter intense levels of competition just to talk to a potential bar hookup. Summer in New York presents an Olympic level of competition. As if the chiseled stock brokers and brooding, sensitive artists weren't providing enough of an obstacle, roving bands of ridiculously good looking Australian and Irish tourists are constantly stalking Lower Manhattan, waiting to sweep women off their feet using their accents alone.

If you are already in a relationship or aren't in the mood for the meat market, there is absolutely nowhere for you to go. Every bar in Manhattan is packed to the gills from 10:30 - 4:00 p.m. Even the bars of the outer boroughs, from the beer gardens of Astoria to the candlelit concept spots of Bushwick, are full of people trying to escape the unbearable heat of their apartments. Of course, their goal, like yours, is to take someone back to their sauna of an apartment for some recreational activity, because you care much less about not having air conditioning if a naked person is in bed with you.
