New York Will Issue Cool, Vintage Driver's Licenses This Summer

The state of New York's new method of combating bogus driver's licenses looks pretty damn cool. Beginning in July, residents in need of new licenses will be issued hard, plastic cards with adorned multiple black and white photos. New York has taken a cue from Virginia, who made a similar move back in 2009.

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles spokeswoman Pam Goheen told the New York Times that the state has yet to witness a "credible" forgery since making the switch. Goheem added that subsequent attempts were "really awful," as the new licenses are engraved with lasers and "sound like a compact disc" when they're dropped.
