Tragically Simple TSA Agent Mistakes Pepper Spray for Laser Pointer at JFK International

A TSA agent at JFK International Airport sent six agentsincluding himselfto the hospital after he confused pepper spray for a laser pointer. Chris Dabel found the canister on the floor and figured the best course of action would be to point it at five of his co-workers. This led to a rather painful trip to Jamaica Hospital.

A TSA spokesperson avoided making Dabel sound like a complete idiot:

“Yesterday morning, out of an abundance of caution, six TSA officers at JFK Airport were transported to a local hospital after being exposed to pepper spray. Officers were examining an abandoned item to determine its contents and to move it out of harm’s way when it accidentally discharged. Travelers and other airport employees were not exposed to the spray.”

Now Dabel is that co-worker.
