For those who have been living under a rock for the past 6 months or so, New York City's soda ban will go into effect on March 12. One potential travesty of the ban is that it might ruin future pizza parties for the children of New York City. Imagine if the soda ban had existed during the TGIF era; some of us might not be who we are today.
The ban will prohibit pizza places from selling 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles of big, sugary drinks. Furthermore, the "kid-friendly" places won't be allowed to serve plastic pitchers anymore. The New York Post adds that this could be a more costly measure, as pizzerias usually charge about $3 for a 2-liter bottle of Coke. The ban will force customers who must have soda to purchase a six-pack of 12-ounce cans, which usually run for $7.50 just to get an equal amount of soda.
The ban will create other adult problems, as it will impact bottle service mixers at clubs. Mayor Bloomberg couldn't care less about your 32-ounce carafe, or the hundreds of dollars you just dropped on a bottle.
