35-year-old socialite Tabber Benedict, one of the self-proclaimed "Gatsbabies," threw himself a going-away party at Bungalow 8 in Chelsea last month that most would envy. It was cinematic. The reason for the occasion? He said he was going to live in Europe for an undisclosed amount of time. If by Europe he means an upstate prison, they yes, he's right.
Described as "the most pretentious person ever," Benedict will be doing time for nearly killing a Long Island father on July 4, 2011. Driving with a blood-alcohol level of .28, Benedict struck cyclist Steven Dorn and then attempted to flee. Fortunately, two other drivers caught up to him and blocked his path of escape.
He eventually pleaded guilty to 10 charges, including DWI, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident. This proved to be a terrible look for Benedict, who was an attorney. Naturally, he has been banned from practicing law. Benedict was sentenced to between 3 and 10 years behind bars.
Karma's a bitch, and his prison gatherings probably won't be black tie.
