D.C. Tops List of Most Literate Cities in America

D.C. has topped the list of America's most literate cities for the third year in a row. The list, which is published by Central Connecticut State University president John W. Miller, has determined that when it comes to newspaper readership, library system size, publishers and tearing through books, D.C. is #1.

Thanks to the online book purchasing habits of D.C. residents, it has remained atop the list since 2010. The District also ranked sixth in education, which was measured by adults with high school diplomas and bachelor's degrees.

Miller's analysis was based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the American Booksellers Association and the Audit Bureau of Circulations among other sources.
