B.R. Rolya Says: "To officially be called Kölsch, a beer must be brewed in Cologne (Köln) to specific standards. Kölsch beers are unique in that they're a hybrid style, fermented with an ale yeast but then lagered at cooler temperatures. Some may scoff at their light flavor but there's so much complexity in these delicate beers. They don't travel well so it's best to drink them at the source. My favorite is from Päffgen; their version has a malty and floral nose with a crisp hop finish."
