Detroit Urban Farm Gets Makeover—a Solar Makeover

Here's some good press coming out of the Motor City. Detroit’s Green Economy Leadership Training (Solidarity) has been partnering with Food Field, a four-acre Detroit farm that set up shop last year. Their first task is to install a solar energy system for the expanding farm, which would make it the first solar-powered farm running entirely off the grid.

By next year, Solidarity hopes to become a solar business that everyone can afford, so there won't be a divide between who can afford the system and who can't. The goal is to feed Detroit, so making the technology available to everyone is ideal.
