2012 was an instance where the usually innocent blowing up of shit in movies caused a shit storm IRL. Director Roland Emmerich set out to blow up as many religious symbols as he could, along with a bunch of other places, in this John Cusack vehicle (lolz)… but it was brought to his attention that he would then receive a fatwa if he blew up the Kaaba. He backed down and was called a pussy on a lot of Catholic message boards, which is still a lot better than a fatwa. Shout out to Salman.
