NBC has fired the producer who edited George Zimmerman's 911 call to make it sound like Trayvon Martin's race was the reason he chose to follow him on the night that he fatally shot Martin. Several people noticed that the dispatcher actually asked Zimmerman to identify Martin by race, prompting an investigation by the network.
After concluding the investigation, NBC released this statement:
"During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret," NBC News said in a statement. "We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers."
NBC has not released the producer's name, and this whole situation, whether it was accidental or not, is just a black eye on a situation that was already horrible.
