Oh, sweet irony. It was Chris Rock who joked that Martin Luther King Boulevards are typically found in the worst neighborhoods in every city. Even more alarming (or perfectly American) is that in many of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America you'll find plenty of streets named after the most revered Americans—our former presidents.
In honor of Presidents Day, we take a look at the Most Dangerous Streets Named After Presidents. If you're planning to visit, put the Grants over there in the safe, spend your Jacksons before you leave, and in your will, make sure the Washingtons go to wifey...

ummm i live in Philly and 17th and Jefferson is not bad AT ALL! its downtown in the business district. theres nothing but sky scrapers, luxury retailers, and steak houses over there. SMH Complex i expected better from you....

Frankie, they're talking about West Jefferson. There ain't no skyscrapers in that neighborhood. Do your homework (or just look at the map they provided) before trying to call someone out, loser.
frankie figz February 22nd, 2011 at 03:03 PM
wow dude really? all that? i mistakenly thought of 17th and JFK which is downtown and does have sky scrapers and luxury retailers. 17th and Jefferson on the other hand is a bad area. i had a street name fail but you on the other hand are a internet tough guy fail. calm ur punk ass down and start up another game of world of war craft u fuckin geek.

In regards to Philly, you must be thinking of 17th and JFK --which does have skyscrapers and nice restaurants; however---wrong president!
frankie figz February 22nd, 2011 at 02:59 PM
lmao you kno what ur absolutely right. when i read that for some reason i read 17th and JFK. #Fail on my behalf. yea 17th and Jefferson definitely is a rough neighborhood. anyways.... PHILLY STAND UP!

"Harrison St., Springfield, Miss. (Southwest Missouri State University)" Springfield, MO.... not Mississippi... and Southwest Missouri State University no longer exists, it is now Missouri State University. I despise Springfield with every fiber of my being, and I no longer live there, but c'mon man.

or baton rouge.

I'm shocked that Van Buren St. in Phoenix didn't make the list. It is essentially a third-world country.

I live in Saint Louis and I think your info might be a bit out of date. Washington street is known for it's revitalization project over the last decade. There has been quite a bit of improvements to businesses, galleries, condos, and parks along the area. 14th and Washington where you refer to is not really that bad at all. Lola is a great bar and music venue right there. The City Museum is awesome! Of course like many big cities you have to be careful late at night, but that is no different than many other cities. It's some common sense.

Wow. Very revealing article. Codeine is an old school Philly thing I guess, right?

LMAO it's hysterical that LA's neighborhood South Central made the list. I live about 15 minutes away and I can't tell you how often out-of-towner friends mosey into the neighborhood thinking that since it's right outside USC it must be nice.
