Brownsville, Texas police shot and killed an eighth grade student who they say engaged them with a firearm at Cummings Middle School this morning. Around 8 a.m., authorities say they found the student in the hallway with a gun and shot him. He was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center, but later succumbed to his injuries.
The student's identity has yet to be released and the school was placed on lock down. No other students were injured, but one was detained for questioning. If you were in that officer's shoes, would you be able to pull the trigger?
More details as they come.

WOW.....VERY WRONG !!! Regardless of how threatened the officers felt, it does NOT justify 3 kill shots towards a child. They could of shot the gun out of his hand, shot him in the leg, any other place just so they could detain him, provide him with medical assistance. It is obvious that this child was ill in some way, but why??? What pushed him over the edge to do this, to bring a gun into school? We cannot assume anything because only HE knew why, and justified as to what he was doing. I feel extremely devistated for the parents and the entire family that their son was not respected enough by police and was intentionally killed instead of detained in a more humane manner. Yes police do need to protect themselves and others. But again the really could of shot his hand, making him drop the gun. Then gotten him the help he REALLY needed, as well as the family. To the family, so very sorry, for MANY reasons. GOD BLESS !!!

WOW... very wrong COMMENT KELLY. Take a handgun training lesson and enlighten yourself that disarming someone with a gun is nearly impossible. You are a fool to think that life is like TV. Secondly, What possible justification would there be to bring a gun to school? Please tell me what situation he could have had to justify that? I bet you don't respond Kelly. You cant make a person drop a gun without dropping them. Simple as that.

"Authorities say they found the student in the hallway with a gun and shot him." The way it sounds is once the cops saw the kid with the gun, they open fired. I truly hope that isn't the case. If it were, the police are dead wrong for that one. No where in the article does it says that the cops tried to talk to the kid or tired to get him to put the gun down. Things could have gone another way, with the kid still having his life. I can't say that i'm surprised, this is Texas. Where you can guy a gun from Walmart, and it's shoot first ask questions later.
