California Police Shoot Man at Point Blank Range in Front of Carl's Jr.

Video Loading...

The chilling video above, captured from behind a rainy window, shows Monterey Park, California, police officers gunning a man down at point blank range in the parking lot of a Carl's Jr. The New York Daily News reports that officers were summoned around 9:30 a.m. on Monday because the man was breaking windows inside the restaurant.

Police say they asked him to drop the object he was holding (it appears to be a sledgehammer, or shovel), and tasered him in the face when he refused. After the tasing, officers let off ten shots, five of which struck the man. Police claim he swung the weapon at them twice, but this is difficult to see in the footage.

The man died later at a local hospital, and the camera man and his friends seem amused by what they just witnessed.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department is currently investigating the shooting.

This is outrageous. Since when someone's life is cheaper than broken glass. This country is doomed. The fear is the way of perdition.

Don't be so ignorant; there's nothing outrageous here. He was pretty clearly going to swing at the cop with his sledgehammer. There's a lot of bad cops out there, but these guys were acting purely out of self-defense.
