Peter Figoski, a 22-year-vet of the NYPD and father of four, was shot and killed during the invasion of a basement apartment in Brooklyn this morning. Figoski was part of a back-up team responding to the report of a robbery in Cypress Hills.
The two suspects couldn't figure out how to flee through the apartment's rear, so they hid in a room while officers interviewed the tenant and other neighbors. When they tried to bolt out of the front door, they ran into Figoski, and 27-year-old Lamont Pride shot him in the face.
Glenn Estrada, Figoski's partner, chased Pride for four blocks before catching him. Police found a silver semi-automatic 9mm Ruger close to the spot where Estrada took him down, and Pride has since been charged with Murder. Meanwhile, the second suspect is still at large.
All of this for "an inexpensive watch and $770 in cash." That's not worth your life, or anyone else's.
