Back in ’92, Francis Ford Coppola brought Bram Stoker’s Dracula to the big screen. In addition to sitting in the director’s chair, Coppola co-produced the film, which became a box office hit. It also took home Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Makeup.
However, the real shocker is the performance of Gary Oldman as the famous vampire. Oldman’s always been a chameleon, but he’s almost unrecognizable at times during Dracula. The cast also features Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing, a wonderfully vapid Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker and a young Monica Bellucci in a small (but crucial!) role as one of Count Dracula’s brides.
$3 will get you in the door, but get to The Troc before 7 p.m. for a free beer and bag of popcorn. As you watch Oldman in action, you’ll be amazed that he’s the same dude who played Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy, Drexl Spivey in True Romance and Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Batman films.
