During the second season of The Wire, everyone’s favorite curmudgeon cop Jimmy McNulty went undercover in a brothel and ended up getting caught having sex with two prostitutes during the raid. It was hilarious, but this real-life blunder trumps it with ease.
An undercover vice cop in Newark was busted pleasuring himself while working a prostitution sting, all while wired for sound. The Star-Ledger obtained the police report, which states that the cop paid $40 to touch himself, and then another $40 to touch the breasts of a 22-year-old woman.
Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio tried to clean up the mess, explaining that the department has no protocol for situations like this, and that the officer attempted to “avoid her having physical contact” to maintain the integrity of the operation. Sure.
According to DeMaio, all six officers involved in the September 28 incident have been banished to desk work. Idle hands are the devils tool, so keeping them busy (and under supervision) should keep them out of trouble. The woman involved was arrested, so the sting was successful, but DeMaio has made it a point to personally approve all future operations. Oh, okay.

Disgraceful city officials should be ashamed of themselves wasting taxpayers money on this nonsense. The poor girl was probably trying to feed her children/keep off welfare. Paying four cops for a useless bust is outrageous--the money could have been used to feed hungry people. Probably the Democrats as usual were behind this political bust which blew up in their face.
