An Obama Fried Chicken in Beijing, China has become the subject of outrage here in the United States. The name alone is already side-eye worthy, but the restaurants sign is what really has people pissed off. Basically, they placed a grinning, cartoonish caricature of President Obama’s head on a considerably thinner version of Colonel Sanders’ body. Classy.

This all comes on the heels of the Obama administration filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization regarding Chinese tariffs on American chicken exports. The restaurant can play dumb all it wants, but below the picture is the slogan “We’re so cool, aren’t we?” written in Chinese.  How clever.

Rev. Al Sharpton condemned the sign, calling it both “insulting” and “offensive,” while insisting that it “plays to racial stereotypes.” Sharpton went on to blast the establishment for mocking President Obama while the U.S. and China engage in global competition. With this sign, they’re basically spitting in the eye of the U.S., specifically president Obama.

There’s another Obama Fried Chicken in Harlem, and its owner is pissed off at the Chinese rip-off as well. Momodou Jallow, who changed the name of his restaurant in 2009 to honor Obama, called the picture “disrespectful.”

What’s worse is that there are a ton of Americans snickering at this shit as well.
