A ferocious lineup in New Orleans with a ticket price ($35) that one usually would pay for just one of these acts anywhere else. The hip-hop veterans on this bill are that breed that just won’t slow down with age; these guys don’t just pop up every now and then and dust off a few nuggets to pay some medical bills.
Raekwon and Ghostface have been steadily pumping out album after album with a consistency that trumps most of their Wu-Tang brethren (side note: if you haven’t copped Wugazi yet, the brilliant mash-up of Wu-Tang vocal tracks integrated into chopped-up versions of tracks by punk legends Fugazi, you are officially, as they say, “sleepin’”…).
And Mobb Deep has a bit of an excuse for their slight hiatus, since Prodigy was recently released from jail after doing a few years on a gun charge. They’ll be performing their dark, frigid 1994 classic The Infamous in its entirety. Snap this bargain of a ticket up before the U.S. economy makes those dollars irrelevant.
