Catch the Blaxploitation Parody "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" in Austin Sunday (9/4)

This 1988 laugh riot from Keenan Ivory Wayans took the tropes of the 1970s blaxploitation genre and made them even more ridiculous. With stars like Jim Brown and Isaac Hayes, Wayans constructed a typical tale of good versus bad, where a war hero (Wayans) returns home to find his community poisoned by the evil Mr. Big, a mean white guy. Enlisting the help of Brown and Hayes, our hero goes after The Man, but only after learning a few lessons about being a badass. The plot is actually far less memorable than the movie’s detours, some of which involve a pimp shoe so tall that it can carry several goldfish and a scene involving Chris Rock and some pork ribs that carries one of Rock’s most quoted lines. Also, watching Isaac Hayes try to ironically recreate some of his characters—Truck Turner, to name one—from the '70s is worth the admission price.
