20 years ago today, a limo pulled up to the front of this building, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (3400 Spruce Street Philadelphia); David Ruffin, lead singer of the Temptations, was expiring in the backseat. Reportedly Ruffin had $30,000 in cash on his person at the time of death, 3:55 a.m., June 1, 1991.

Known for his distinctive tenor and black, thick-rimmed glasses, Ruffin sang lead on many of the Temptations most famous hits, including "My Girl."
