This pairing is odd enough to make you read the billing a second time, but the shows on this tour have been selling out quickly. Aesop Rock hasn’t released a proper full-length of his notoriously verbose, rapid-fire lyricism since 2007’s None Shall Pass, but more recently he produced Felt’s Tribute to Rosie Perez and collaborated with Cage, Rob Sonic, and DJ Big Wiz.
Kimya Dawson is one-half of New York’s the Moldy Peaches and a singer-songwriter with a large catalog in the lo-fi, “anti-folk” vein. Not the most likely candidates for a national tour, but the potential for collaboration is pretty huge. There's certainly no equivalent way to spend you Friday.—Finn Cohen
