Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand [489 Moreland Avenue] in East Atlanta is the latest eatery to pop up in the thriving, somewhat gentrified area. Established by ATL restaurateurs Molly Gunn (The Porter Beer Bar) and Delia Champion (Flying Biscuit) DCSS provides a much needed twist to the local food scene.

Though they pump the “Slinger” (a chicken sausage version of a slider) as the signature item on the menu, just about every sandwich and dog is delicious. The bread is the key here—hoagie rolls from local restaurant Holeman and Finch bring the 9 signature dogs together well. They use local chicken only free of antibiotics, chemicals and growth stimulants as well so it tastes good and is good for you.

The drinks are on point as well. DCSS flips the southern staple “sweet tea” by freezing it and adding raspberry lemonade and calling it “The Swirlie.” For those with a sweet tooth, the chocolate-chocolate chip or red velvet “Cake Shake” is the way to go.
