Here’s a package tour that pairs two of Atlanta’s too often slept-on rap juggernauts. Both Young Dro and Killer Mike are affiliated with T.I.’s Grand Hustle label; the former has a penchant for candy paint, matching polos, and a slightly dive-bombing melodic style that allows him to slide into the end of his phrases; the latter, a deep-voiced, often politically minded rapper, has been known to kick it with OutKast and crew, but he’s got two of his own records coming out this year. PL3DGE is due in May on Mike’s own Grind Time imprint, and a record produced entirely by Brooklyn’s El-P should be out later this year.
Dro has already dropped a few mixtapes this year alone, and his P.O.L.O. (Players Only Live Once) should see the light of day this summer.—Finn Cohen
