The Final Fantasy series occupies a special place in the hearts of even the most casual video game players. If ever you took the plunge into an RPG, probably it came in the form of the popular Japanese series created by Hironobu Sakaguchi. As a testament to the reverance gamers have for FF, Brooklyn Academy of Music will host Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy this weekend.
As is the case with Zelda and a handful of other games, the music of the Final Fantasy series often evokes a level of emotion reserved for film scores and pop songs. Distant Worlds features composer Nobuo Uematsu, conductor Arnie Roth, the Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra, Riverside Choral Society, and many special soloists including renowned FF XIV vocalist Susan Calloway
Behind the orchestra, classic scenes from the series will be projected. Bring tissues for one scene in particular. No need to mention it by name. In your heart, you already know.
