Arthouse Alert: See Cult Classic "The Room" in Cleveland Saturday

As one of the heaviest of the heavily bad hitters on the late-night/cult theatre status, The Room (2003) occupies a place in American pop culture that it never really intended to. Seemingly created as a love triangle drama by its writer/director/lead actor Tommy Wiseau, the film ended up becoming a comedy that no one could have predicted. The acting is deliciously atrocious, and Wiseau’s cryptic European accent turns lines that could have seemed impassioned coming from anyone else into highly memorable laugh riots. If you haven’t had the experience yet, drag yourself to this, preferably with a crowd who can prevent you from choking on your popcorn when Wiseau delivers his career-making love scene (that gets repeated frame-by-frame again later).

The Room, Saturday, 10 p.m.
Cedar Lee Theatre
2163 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights, Oh.
