A well-placed cowbell, some gurgling low-end synths and one of those radio-ready
choruses that made riding with your mom in the car on the way to the supermarket
as a kid just a little bit less of a drag—those are just a few of the elements of a
Chromeo song. The Montreal duo (P-Thugg and Dave 1) released their third
album, Business Casual, last fall, solidifying their place as torchbearers of the 80s
disco tradition. Some clever marketing deals with Bushmills Irish Whiskey have
put them on billboards across America, and a series of even cleverer videos have
endeared them to viewers around the world. Their Boston date, the first on their
nationwide “Risky Business” tour, is the only one not yet sold out on the East Coast,
so move quickly.-Finn Cohen
