Durham’s Retrofantasma series has been presenting obscure horror/sci-fi/schlock classics on original 35mm reels since 1998. Between their sporadic “Trailerpalooza” installments, where audiences can watch 90 minutes of grindhouse trailer classics, and their Q&A sessions with directors at screenings, the organizers aim to please those looking for off-the-beaten-path horror.
This week, they bring a double feature of early Jamie Lee Curtis classics, both from 1980. Terror Train features a group of students celebrating New Year’s Eve with a costume party on a train that happens to be inhabited by a killer, while The Fog involves a coastal town being menaced by an...evil fog. The latter film features an all-star cast, with Janet Leigh, Hal Holbrook, and Adrienne Barbeau, while Terror Train boasts David Copperfield. -Finn Cohen
