Music 5 O’Clock Shuffle: Young Money, Salem, Juelz Santana & More

Left To Right: Young Money, Salem, Juelz Santana, Free Energy, Jadakiss

Each day Complex scours the music blogs for 5 fresh songs that you should listen to in our 5 O’Clock Shuffle post. Instead of going crazy trying to keep up with your RSS feeds everyday, just head over to Complex.com to stay up-to-date on important leaks and releases.

Some days it’s a scramble to find new music leaking from notable artists, but the choices were plentiful today. Lil’ Wayne, Drake, and the the rest of the Young Money posse came through with what’s sure to be another hit. Psychedelic rockers Salem dropped some heat almost exactly a year after we first started checking for them. Even Chris Brown found his way onto our Shuffle playlist. The crazy thing is, that’s not even half of what we have waiting for you after the jump (okay, it kind of is, but you know what we mean). Keep reading to check out today’s mix…

Music EXCLUSIVE! Drake’s Tour Diary From The Night of The Fall

By now we’re sure you’ve heard about Young Money’s golden child, Drake, falling and re-injuring himself during his set at the Susquehana Bank Center this past Friday, July 31, in front of a sold out crowd. You probably even saw fan-filmed footage of the unfortunate tumble on YouTube, and read Drake’s blog about it, so you probably think you know everything that went down that night. Well, you don’t. But Complex does. We were there!

Last week, we sent a writer and a photographer to follow the most buzzed-about rapper in the game on the northeast leg of the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival. We were supposed to follow Drizzy from Camden, NJ to Jones Beach, NY, but our (and his) plans were cut short due to a very unfortunate accident. It goes without saying that we wish Drake a quick and full recovery—if the thunderous roar of the 25,000 people in attendance this past Friday is any indication, he’ll be dearly missed on this tour. Even though our story was cut short, we were still able to spend some time with Drake and the rest of the Young Money crew leading up to the incident. Check out all the candid photos and quotes below to see the night through Complex’s eyes…

Music Drake Talks Young Money, Kanye Comparisons & Ghostwriting

drake_opener.jpg
It may sound heavily clichéd by now, but all Aubrey “Drake” Graham wants to do is keep it real. The Toronto-bred rapper who gained fame by playing basketball star Jimmy Brooks on the teen TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation has no intentions of fabricating his past or lying about the number of women he's smashed off. He even has no problem talking about how he leased a Rolls Royce Phantom with his TV money just so he could stunt.

On his latest mixtape, So Far Gone, he does just that. The tape has him rapping and singing'along with Bun B, Lloyd, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and Omarion'about any and everything going on in his life, from drama with ex-girls to family problems most would keep under wraps. Complex caught up with Drake right before he left to celebrate the release of his tape with LeBron James, and we spoke to him him about So Far Gone, ghostwriting for Weezy and his place amongst the new generation of rappers…
