• Sure, the Young Money rapper is an easy target for ridicule, but we won’t act like the kid hasn’t stepped up his rhymes a little bit. This is from his upcoming Black Thoughts mixtape.

Sure the statement may seem a little extreme to those of us who aren’t involved in any bing-worthy activities but we can’t front, Jeezy makes his clothes work for him. That said, you won’t catch the snowman rocking skinny jeans and colorful dunks anytime soon. Sticking to classics like leather jackets and 59/50 fitteds, the Trapstar manages to own an aesthetic different than the usual rap trendsetters, and still look cool. When Jeezy decided to call his superb third solo album The Recession, America’s financial crisis was just starting to bubble up from the housing market. But as we near the election, the state of the economy has taken center stage. Who better to tell us how to survive the recession than the thug motivator who actually predicted the collapse? Read on below for the Snowman’s six financial tips to get you through tough times…

TIP #1: TRIM THE FAT.
“During a recession, you cut back on things. It isn't the time to buy a new crib or a new car. It's mostly about maintaining. Girlfriends have to understand that, too'it would be in her best interest if I weren't spending all the money. A drought is a drought, baby.”

TIP #2: MAKE SMART INVESTMENTS.
“I like to invest in things where I can be hands-on. I've always invested in real estate, but now's the time. I've been buying up a lot of shit because the market's down. It makes sense to buy now because a lot of shit's in foreclosure'but at the same time, you have to wait until it turns back around to sell the shit.”

TIP #3: KEEP YOUR EAR TO THE STREET.
“The streets dictate everything, even the economy. If the streets were eating right now, nobody would care if gas was five dollars. Who give a fuck, if I can pay for it? It's when you don't have it to pay that you sit there debating, Do I fill up my car, or do I just get a half a tank to make sure I can eat for the rest of the week?”

TIP #4: DIVERSIFY YOUR HUSTLE.
“I try to get cash without covering the lines of who I am. If you look at anybody that's really just had it like that, they always had some other shit going on. You take Jay-Z, Puff'that's their way of life. They go out and create a new opportunities and then bring it back to music.”

TIP #5: USE PAPER, NOT PLASTIC.
“I'm better with cash than I will ever be with a credit card. If you got $5,000 in your pocket and you know it's going to cost you $1,000 to get through your week, you are going to count that $5,000 as if it was a bank. If you blow the whole $5,000 and you know it takes you $1,000 to live per week, then you ain't recession-proof'you're about to be fucked up.”

TIP #6: SWIM WITH THE LOAN SHARKS.
“When money's tight like now, people don't want to pay their debts, so you definitely have to kind of trick them. You have to make them feel good about the situation, like everything's all right. Find where they be at, and then roll up on them.”

We’ve all been rocking to “Put On,” but this week, he opened our ears to the rest of his socio-economic message with a special listening session. “THE RECESSION (INTRO)”

Quote: “It’s a recession everybody broke/So I came back to give everybody hope.”
Sounds Like: “I Got Money” with eerier synths from T.I.'s “What You Know”.
Synopsis: Hearing Toomp on the first track of the album instead of 4 or 5 tracks in is like skipping the foreplay and going straight to the fuckin’. And as real as a recession is, you can't help but smirk at how the newscaster sampled in the intro considers the R-word taboo.

“CRAZY WORLD”

Producer: Midnight Black
Quote: “If this world keep spinnin'/Yeah my rims still spinnin'/Even though the money slow we still spendin'.”
Sounds Like: Jeezy throws a jab at Bush while riding a wave of horns that’s similar to Blood Raw's “Louie Bag”.
Synopsis: People still ride on spinners? Now that's crazy.

“AMAZING”

Producer: Drumma Boy
Quote: “Bitch I'm amazing/Look what I'm blazing/Eyes so low that I look like an Asian.”
Sounds Like: “Put On,” minus Kanye.
Synopsis: We already know Drumma Boy cranks out grand slams for Jeezy, Rocko, and Tip, but it takes Jeezy's unabashed honesty on this one to take you out of the occasional monotony of Drumma’s style.

“LET THE DOLLAR CIRCULATE”

Producer: Don Cannon
Quote: “I'ma start off slow, yeah so so/They love me out in D.C., just like Go-Go.”
Sounds Like: A soulful version of “Mr. 17.5'” with a Go-Go twist.
Synopsis: You wonder why no one sampled this forgotten Billy Paul gem by the same name before, seeing as making it rain has been the thing to rap about. Thank the man that gave us “Me And Mrs. Jones” for Canon's inspiration.

“WORD PLAY”

Producer: Justice League
Quote: “I'm way too intelligent for you to play with my intelligence.”
Sounds Like: The thick drums of JL’s signature percussion heard on 2 Pistols’ “Gettin Money Mane”.
Synopsis: This is supposed to be Jeezy's fuck you to non-believers about his lyricism. This line is as dumbed down as he gets.

“VACATION”

Producer: DJ Nasty
Quote: “I'm outta here, you a postcard.”
Sounds Like: “White Girl” with a tan.
Synopsis: The hook is catchy as hell, but we're not confident this one will stand out from the many other 808 thumpers that dominate the album.

“MY PRESIDENT”

Producer: Da Bizness Productions
Quote: “Because I'm soul survivor that don't make me a convict/'Be all you can be,' that sounds like some dumb shit.”
Sounds Like: “My Hood” for the vote or die crowd.
Synopsis: Forget Jesse Jackson and his rainbow coalition jibber-jabber, Jeezy gets colorful with his metaphors to describe rims to Jordans to the first prez with some pigment. Def Jam also stated that Nas will be appearing on the final version.

“WHO DAT”

Producer: Shawty Redd
Quote: “Fly to the club in a helicopter'I’m not talking the one with the propellors”
Sounds Like: Shawty Redd took “Black Dreams” (from The Prime Minister mixtape) and made it a nightmare.
Synopsis: If your ears don't bleed listening to the orgy of instruments on the track, then you'll have a seizure.

“HUSTLER’S AMBITION”

Producer: Drumma Boy
Quote: “Grandma at church while I'm in the refrigerator/In search of the baking soda, right next to the mashed potatoes.”
Sounds Like: “Hypnotize” with beefed up drums.
Synopsis: For trappers, having a song named “Hustler's Ambitition” is like hopsters rapping about the '80s. Had to do it.

“WHAT THEY WANT”

Producer: Midnight Black
Quote: “I'm playing baseball the same size as golf balls.”
Sounds Like: The drip-drop keys from “Trap Or Die”.
Synopsis: Throughout the metaphor-heavy song, Jizzle compares making a million dollars to playing various ball related sports. And he doesn’t say “no homo” once!

“TAKE IT THERE” f/ Trey Songz

Producer: Fat Boy
Quote: “I'm the one she call when she want that 'hood shit.”
Sounds Like: The happy medium between Mariah's “Side Effects” and Usher's “Love In This Club”.
Synopsis: The first real song catered to the ladies comes off strong like Young’s previous r&b efforts.

Young Jizzle has been killing it lately with a slew of R&B guest spots, but his new joint “Put On,” produced by Drumma Boy, definitely recaptures the serious, motivational mood of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” Sure, this is Jeezy in his element, but Kanye still manages to upstage him by using the auto-tune/vocoder effect on his memorable verse. • Mistaken identity: Despite what many blogs reported yesterday, DJ Kool Herc ain’t suing Jay-Z for $5 billion over slave reparations and the defilement of downtown Brooklyn for a new stadium. However, someone with the same real name as Herc, a one Clive Campbell is.

• Do-gooder: See rap ain’t all evil. Young Jeezy announced a winner of his “MakeYour Dreams Come True” contest. The contest'coinciding with the release of his album'will give a 13 year-old with cerebral palsy a special wheelchair-accessible van and treat the whole fam to diner at Justin’s in Atlanta.

• Liquidity: Despite Dr. Dre’s forthcoming album being called “Detox,” the Hip Hop producer-mogul is getting into the beverage game with Drinks American Holdings Inc. There’s a cognac in the words followed by a new vodka.

• Courting: Lil Wanye does a concert in NJ, then goes to court in NYC, pleads not guilty for his weapons charges. He even asked concertgoers for some luck, “I would love for you to put me in your prayers tonight; I got court in the morning.”
