Video Games Video Game Of The Week: Batman: Arkham Asylum

batman-arkham-asylum-1TITLE: Batman: Arkham Asylum

DEVELOPER/PUBLISHER/PLATFORMS: Rocksteady Studios/ Edios Interactive/PC, PS3, XBOX 360

FUN FACT: Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy reprise their roles as the voices of Joker and Batman.

WHY COMPLEX IS CO-SIGNING IT: Let’s be honest, 99% of superhero-based video games suck. After the super noob-friendly Batman Begins game and the awful Superman Returns game, it was looking down hill for DC. But much like the newest Batman film, the Dark Knight is here to save them. To put it in simplest terms, Batman: Akrham Asylum is not only a fanboy’s wet dream but it also holds its ground as one of the best titles of this year.

STORY: Screw Sherlock, the Dark Knight will always be the greatest detective of all time. While most other superhero games stick close to the comics, BAA is original while still paying respect to comic history. The new plot, which focuses on Batman battling everyone he’s locked up in the past, is an interesting and new idea, but it’s the dynamic gameplay that’s most impressive…

Downloadable content is the next realm of console gaming, and leave it to Rockstar Games to be an early innovator. In The Lost and Damned 'the first of two planned GTA IV downloadable episodes'you control Johnny Klebitz, VP of The Lost biker gang, as he struggles to keep his team’s crime operation afloat. For those that love pushing choppers in regular GTA games, this is a must-download.

The Lost and Damned will be available on Tuesday, February 17 for download from Xbox Live for 1,600 Microsoft points ($19.99). Microsoft is also offering five days of free Xbox Live Gold during the week of the episode’s release. Watch the just-released trailer below…

Video Games Win A Copy Of ‘Too Human’ For Xbox 360

toohuman.jpg
We’ll be honest: The reviews for Too Human, the Xbox 360 game from Microsoft and Silicon Knights that just dropped, have been pretty middling. The third-person action title, which has been in the making for over a decade and is the first of a planned trilogy, could be the victim of advance hype'too much buzz eventually turned into a buzzkill.

But we played Too Human, and while it may not be an instant classic, it’s still pretty damn fun (check the ill villains!). There are definitely worse ways to shit away the rest of summer. But don’t just take our word for it. Watch the game trailer and learn how to win your own copy below…

With all the hype surrounding GOW2 (due out in November), we focused our attention on getting familiar with the gory third person shooter through a friendly network game over some super-fructose X-Tini cocktails. Video Games Ninja Gaiden 2 Goes For Gore

ninjagaiden_lead.jpg
Adapting original Nintendo games on next-gen consoles is a great way to keep the franchise alive. On Tuesday, one of the classics from our days of blowing on cartridges (pause)'Ninja Gaiden 2'drops on Xbox 360.

In a sequel to the O.G. Xbox version, your character Ryu Hayabusa continues down the path of vengeance for his clan while trying to save the world. The plots and gameplay are very straightforward, making it fun to hack up deadly assassins and other-worldly creatures. Now with enhanced melee attacks, auto-healing, and Ryu’s signature teleportation and wall-running moves, the 20+ minute intervals spent defeating bosses aren’t so bad, even for the first-time player. Watch a few videos below.
