Wake N' Watch Wake N’ Watch: Jay-Z & Alicia Keys Perform ‘Empire State Of Mind’ At The World Series

You’re probably still debating over whether New York or Philadelphia has hotter girls (vote here), but there is a baseball series going on between both cities, you know? We kid. Of course you know. That’s not to say that you’ve been watching all the games though, no matter how sports savvy you try to act around your friends. In case you missed out, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys opened up Game 2 of the World Series last night with their NYC anthem, “Empire State Of Mind.” The boys in blue might wanna get Hov on the bill for all their games, because they walked away with the win. Watch the performance above.

Tune in to Complex.com every morning at 8 AM for your daily “Wake N’ Watch” video.

Girls World Series Wednesday: New York Girls vs. Philly Girls

WS_lead
Which city wins the World Series of Women—NY or Philly?

The Yankees and Phillies kick off the 2009 World Series tonight and resume a bitter rivalry between their cities (relevant on a national scale once upon a time, Philly is very, very bitter that New York is the shit worldwide). Baseball alone is enough to bring out the hate Philadelphians and New Yorkers feel for each other, so wait until we put their women up against each other. Check out the head-to-head match-ups between NYC and Philly natives and help us decide which city takes the trophy for hottest women

Sports Fall Classic: Complex’s 2009 World Series Preview

ws_lead
Sure, tonight’s got the first games of the NBA season, but for the first time in a long while we’ve actually got baseball on our minds here in late October. After enduring ignoring thrilling World Series matchups like Philadelphia-Tampa Bay and Houston-Chicago the last few years, it looks like baseball has a matchup for the ages on its hands with the Yankees-Phillies tilt that’s set to start tomorrow night.

Of course the sports talking heads are chattering away about this could-be classic of a Series, but we know you don’t come to Complex to talk about who hits better when they’re behind in the count. You’d rather know who’s fans fight better in the stands, and who’s pitching coach is more likely to spark a j in the dugout, right? We thought so, and made sure to include both in our Ultimate Guide to the 2009 World Series.

Sports Phive Phun Moments in Philadelphia Phillies History

phillie_bush.jpg
The Phillie Phanatic (l) with the Crawford Clown

Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the L.A. Dodgers to take home the National League Pennant and advance to the World Series for the first time in 15 years. For all the talk of curses on the Red Sox and Cubs, the Phils might be the most woebegone franchise in baseball'yeah, they’ve got a World Series win, but they’re also the only team with 10,000 all-time losses and they’ve recorded 27 seasons with a sub-.400 record.

Needless to say, it’s Philadelphians who are laughing now. In a nod to their win, we present the phunnest moments in their squad’s history…
