WHY? Dirty Projectors will be performing alongside contemporary music ensemble Alarm Will Sound and they’ll be performing most of their 2005 album, The Getty Address. They promise to close the show with songs from Bitte Orca, but seeing as how we named that album the #24 Best Album of 2009 we’re hoping they play on just a little bit longer.

WHY? As Andre 3000’s Common’s The D.O.C.’s Jay Electronica’s wifey preps the release of her upcoming New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), we’ll be looking out for the trademark raw emotion Ms. Badu has been known to deliver during her live shows. Add that to the fact that Ms. Badu has enough bangers in her catalog to make us jump in the air and stay there.

FREEWAY in BOSTON

WHERE? Middle East Downstairs
WHY? Fresh off the release of The Stimulus Package–his collaborative album with Jake One–Freeway is looking to go on a Boston-styled massacre and shut the city down. Look out for cameos by underground favorites like Jake One and Termanology. However, we’re hoping Free doesn’t bring his good friend Beanie “I Will Shamelessly Diss You For Attention” Sigel.

WHY? First and foremost, by NO MEANS do we approve of listening to John Mayer’s music. However, we wholeheartedly support the idea of going to people’s shows just to heckle the shit out of them. Let’s face it people, Mayer’s apology was as awful as Tiger’s. So be sure to bring your tomatoes, oranges, and John Mayer as Joker posters. Basically, we need to turn the crowd into a bizzaro-Tea Party rally.

WILL FERRELL & FRIENDS in LOS ANGELES

WHY? Will Ferrell has a lot of friends. His upcoming live show, Make It Better, will feature the likes of Dimitri Martin, Tim & Eric, Tenacious D , Aubrey Plaza, Nick Swardson and Rob Riggle. Best of all, all the proceeds go to A Better LA–an organization committed to stopping violence in LA. If you’re wondering what this has to do with music, reread that guest list. Tenacious D son! WHY COMPLEX IS CO-SIGNING IT: We’re on Danny McBride’s jock—his horny, arrogant, racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, foul-mouthed, drugged-out, washed-up jock, Kenny Powers, that is. McBride, who stood out in The Foot Fist Way, Pineapple Express, and Tropic Thunder, is pitch perfect as the disgraced and penniless former Major League Baseball star flame-thrower who’s forced to live amongst the little people and teach physical education at his middle school while he tries to make a comeback. Eastbound has filthy humor on the reg, Katy Mixon’s super twos on the reg, Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson guest appearances on the reg, and all sorts of other cool shit on the reg. The first season of this HBO gem—six half-hour episodes—leaves us wanting more, but when a pitcher who throws “faster than fuck” hurls a perfect game, they don’t dick around about it, they just bring the heat, get in and get out. If you’re not going to bat for this series, quite simply, you’re fuckin’ out!

The real-estate bubble burst like a bad implant, word to Chyna, so now’s the time for Ferrell to get in the housing game and spend some of his SNL money. Don’t let the funny-guy routine fool you; he will evict that ass. You can’t front on a dude who DRIVES A DODGE STRATUS!

WRESTLER
At 6′4″, Ferrell has the presence of a young Ted DiBiasi. Okay, maybe not, but he’s no stranger to getting acrobatic with other men (to wit: Blades of Glory), which is like 70% of the way to WWE superstar status. The other 30%, in case you were wondering, is equal parts steroids and poor life decisions.

LATE-NIGHT SHOW HOST
With Leno gone and Conan still finding his freakishly gawky footing, Ferrell would be a no-brainer (word to your girlfriend) on the late-night circuit. Don’t forget, a dude named Spike Feresten has a late-night hosting job. Our man could come in there and do nothing but eat spinach-artichoke dip for an hour and still body that herb.

SANITATION WORKER
We’re tired of surly garbage collectors who don’t smile as they collect our week’s worth of beer cans and love tissues strew our porn on the sidewalk. At least Ferrell can act like he’s having fun while he picks up discarded pallets of Land of the Lost Blu-Ray discs. You see what we did there? We took a cultural failure and made it even more irrelevant. Oh, MAN. That was awesome.

POLICE OFFICER
Directing traffic can bring out the loud, annoying asshole in anyone (no Taco Bell). Ferrell + badge = hilarity. Or Justin Volpe 2.0, we’re still not sure which. Either way, he’d be more entertaining than whatever turd Werner Herzog and Nic Cage are squeezing out of their Elvis-necrophilia meetings.

DOUCHEBAG
Ferrell’s multi-gazillion-dollar cumulative box office take proves that people love his asshole comedy routine. Why not just run with it? Just go Frank from Old School full-time. It’s easy: 1. Show up 2. Scream “Blue, you’re my BOY!!!!” at other assholes 3. Have sex with their girlfriends because he’s famous and they’re not 4. Collect giant check. Seriously, try it, it works.
