Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet “Sons of Tucson” Actress Natalie Martinez

Photo taken from Complex’s 2008 “Hot Complex” shoot with Natalie Martinez.

In TV news, Fox is looking to fill the Malcolm in the Middle slot in its Sunday night programming with Sons of Tucson, a live action comedy about three boys who hire a homeless dude to be their dad. Home Alone x My Three Sons? Ok, color us skeptical, but the show actually wasn’t half bad when it premiered on Sunday.

What we’re not the least bit skeptical about is the show’s leading lady and Complex homie Natalie Martinez, who plays one of the snot-nosed kid’s teacher, and seems destined to become the love interest of the schlubby substitute dad. As mentioned, we’ve been down with Nat for a minute, and if you haven’t, a) What the frack is wrong with you, and b) Get familiar with her, in these five clips of her most memorable recent work

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet “Melrose Place” Actress Jessica Lucas

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

Tonight, Melrose Place returns on the CW with sexier new episodes amidst rumors of cancellation. Despite the network’s attempts to bring back classic characters like Heather Locklear’s Amanda to draw viewers, the show’s ratings still slipped. But honestly, we think its ’cause producers, ’til now, had failed to appreciate who they already have—Jessica Lucas.

The 24 year-old French Canadian/Haitian/Pakistani actress made her debut in the Canadian hit Edgemont and went on to appear in numerous dramas including 90210 (with our girl Jessica Stroup) and relatively low-key films such as The Covenant. The girl’s been on the block for awhile now, so we decided to look back at the 5 clips that made us take notice of Jessica Lucas…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet Electro Singer Little Boots

LILBOOTS
Complex’s weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

These days indie and electro musicians blend together so much in the same hipster category that it’s pretty hard to distinguish one artist from another. So we feel it’s our duty to highlight the best ones you may be missing out on. Take Little Boots, for example.

The basics: Her real name is Victoria Hesketh, she plays a mean Tenori-on (which looks like a Lite-Brite), she was a former member of the band Dead Disco, and she began her solo career posting videos of her music on YouTube and MySpace. Already a successful UK artist, Little Boots is finally releasing her debut album Hands in America today. Still with us? If our mini-bio wasn’t enough, get more familiar with LB by checking out five videos that’ll make you a fan…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet Indie Harp Sensation Joanna Newsom

Newsom
Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

Most of the time, we’re pretty keen on poppin’ bottles of Ciroc on models, hangin’ out with rappers at loud clubs, and pretty much anything that would fall under #shityouwishyoucoulddo. However, every now and then we like to trade in some of the Waka Flocka for some Death Cab and get in a bubble bath mellow out. Since we’re always on point we decided to check out indie harp hottie Joanna Newsom’s third album Have One On Me, which dropped today.

Oh, you haven’t been put on yet? Well lookit, she came on the scene plucking the heart strings of emo hipsters in ‘04 and has been on the grind since then. The harp is kinda pretentious, but anyone who dates Andy Samberg can’t be too serious (plus she’s totally pluckable). We’d say more but why don’t you take a look at 5 videos that have Ras Trent and ourselves saying ba-da-dingda-dingda whoa!!!

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet “How to Make It in America” Actress Lake Bell

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

So on Sunday we checked out HBO’s latest, How To Make It in America, and “the East Coast Entourage” (promise that’s the last time we’re ever gonna call it that) did not disappoint. Kid Cudi was a surprisingly good actor, and the homie Bryan Greenberg did his thing as well.

But the most pleasant surprise of the show was Lake Bell, who plays Greenberg’s hot ex Rachel. Homegirl’s been heating up screens both big and small for a minute, so we decided to have a look-see at 5 scenes made us keep an eye out for Lake Bell…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet Dexter’s Courtney Ford

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

The season four finale of the Showtime hit Dexter will air this Sunday and what better way to ease the anticipation than to take a look back at its sexy new reporter? In the series, Orange County native Courtney Ford plays (well, played–sorry, spoiler) the ambitious Christine Hill who shamelessly seduces Detective Quinn for story information, then gets caught up in the Trinity Killer imbroglio. It wouldn’t be the first time Ms. Ford has showed some T&A to get her way; just check her out in Fling.

In real life, Ford is the Lois Lane to Superman’s Brandon Routh after marrying the actor in 2007. More impressively, Mrs. Clark Kent was recently named in Variety magazine as one of “TV’s Top 10 To Watch: New Faces For Fall” for her role in Dexter. She’s not that much of a new face; babygirl was on Moesha in 2001. Yes, Moesha. But hey, better late than never. Her career’s popping now, so let’s get to know the girl we should’ve already been familiar with…

LA_DIVA-LEAD
Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

If you caught the fight this weekend, we’re pretty sure you got a glimpse of these girls too. Audiences got to pre-game with the Filipina trio, La Diva, comprised of former Pinoy Pop Superstars (the Filipino equivalent of American Idol) as they gave their rendition of “Lupang Hinirang,” the national anthem of the Philippines. Since signing with GMA records, the group’s had non-stop exposure on GMA tv, one of the leading television networks in their country. With the girls fresh-off-the-boat here in America, we decided to co-sign and showcase what the Philippines apparently already can’t get enough of. Watch 5 clips and get familiar with La Diva below…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet The Office’s Ellie Kemper

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

If you watch NBC’s The Office religiously like we do, you’ve probably noticed Dunder Mifflin’s cute new secretary, played by Ellie Kemper. This St. Louis native has had quite a career so far, working with comedy troupes like the People’s Improv Theatre and the Upright Citizens Brigade, writing for smart publications like The Onion and McSweeney’s, and appearing in sketches on various late night shows and websites. And after her breakout Office role, she should be a household name in no time. Watch 5 clips that made us take notice of Ellie Kemper below…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet The House of the Devil’s Jocelin Donahue

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

From Jamie Lee Curtis to Neve Campbell, there’s a long tradition of so-called “Scream Queens” we love. But who’s the next horror movie hottie to break out? Meet Jocelin Donahue, the star of this weekend’s indie fright fest The House of the Devil. The movie, which is a throwback to classic ’80s horror, is getting rave reviews, in no small part due to the breakout performance of the film’s striking leading lady. But Jocelin didn’t just pop up out of the blue—she’s been hustling in Hollywood for a few years now, turning heads in TV commercials and landing smaller parts in movies. Keep reading to watch the 5 scenes that made us take notice of Jocelin Donahue…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet Californication’s Eva Amurri

It’s times like these that we’re inclined to quote the wise words of Juvenile: “She get it from her maaamaa!” That’s right, the spectacular two’s you’re looking at above belong to the lovely Eva Amurri, who happens to be the daughter of Wifey Hall of Fame contender Susan Sarandon and Italian director Franco Amurri.

For years, Eva has been popping up in smaller movie roles, but it wasn’t until her recent turn as a college student/stripper on Showtime’s Californication that we truly took notice. See, in two out of the three episodes she’s appeared in so far, she performs a jaw-dropping strip tease, showing off her truly remarkable two’s. Watch the 5 moments that made us take notice of Eva Amurri below…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet 90210’s Mekia Cox

Complex’s new weekly feature “Who’s That Girl?” spotlights an up-and-coming woman we’ve got our eye on.

The new 90210 has plenty of pretty young things, but for West Beverly’s sole black student Dixon (a.k.a. Tristan Wilds from The Wire), it’s damn near impossible to find a fine woman of color. Shit, they had Lauren London play a cheerleader on the show, but her character turned out to be a lesbian. WTF!

But lately we’ve noticed that Dixon has a pretty brown skinned lady on his arm, an actress/dancer by the name of Mekia Cox. Raised in Florida and originally from the Virgin Islands, Mekia earned her stripes on the stage in productions like Fame and Ragtime, and was a featured dancer on the Michael Jackson tour that is now being released as a documentary called This Is It. After guest-starring in various TV shows, her 5-episode arc as Sasha on 90210 might be her big breakout. Watch the scenes that made us take notice below…

Girls Who’s That Girl? Meet Jay-Z’s Backup Singer Bridget Kelly

bridget
After Hova officially blew down MSG for the umpteenth time on 9/11 (he’s like a young Marvin in his hey), one question was left lingering on many a mind: was or was that Alicia Keys stunt double going for dolo on “Empire State of Mind”? Plenty were asking, but none were answering, so we put our investigative cap on and sent the Complex interns detectives out to find out something about Bridget Kelly.

The 21-year-old Roc Nation signee and NYC local (she graduated from LaGuardia H.S. in Manhattan, the place that Fame was based on) is obviously easy on the ears, and it turns out she’s not so hard on the eyes, either. The resemblance to our girl Ms. Keys is a good start, but we went one better and scrounged up some clips of B.K. going hard. Listen, learn, and fall in love…
