Cazal frames have been a hip-hop staple since the Run-DMC era, and they’re definitely making a strong comeback this year. With the price tag associated with its clothing, it’s safe to say that Helmut Lang is an expensive and classy brand. We even dare call it “uppity.” But with class, a look of sophistication is expected, which means when you’re rockin’ the brand you might want to leave the fitteds and Nike mids at home.
We ain’t taking anything away from Chris Breezy though. He might have been rushing to a court hearing (not community service) and had to throw on this look real quick (which explains why the jacket is unzipped). On the other hand, Ryan Leslie looks like he put more effort into his outfit. Still, we don’t usually co-sign R.Les’s steez, so this decision may be harder than you think. So we’ll let you tell it. Ever since James Dean rocked one in Rebel Without a Cause, the black leather jacket has been the de rigueur clothing item for those that consider themselves bad boys. Since then we’ve seen the jacket ebb and flow out of style with celebrities, and recently it seems to be poppin’ once again.
Just this past week we saw Eminem wearing one with his unique Detroit gutter steez, Chris Brown rocking one while trying to stay incognito (although, “bad boy” is the last image that dude should be trying to portray) and John Mayer channeling his inner rockstar at Jay-Z’s September 11th concert at Madison Square Garden. After 2008 saw everyone from Justin Timberlake to Jay-Z rocking suit vests, we thought the multi-use layering piece was going to take its rightful place along side the cardigan as a go-to garment. Then for some reason they began to fade from the red carpet like Nicole Ritchie. But what goes around comes around, so it’s no surprise that we’re starting to see a bunch of dudes incorporating the suit vest into their outfits once again. Remember when we hipped you to the 10 best sunglasses for the summer? Yeah, well, it seems a couple of celeb’s peeped it as well, as we’ve been seeing a number of actors and musicians sporting the Ray-Ban Clubmaster’s.
And for good reason. The Clubmaster is classic, iconic model, and a great departure from the ever popular Ray-Ban aviators and classier than the multi-color, plastic frames that are more suitable when paired with boardshorts and can of Miller Highlife.
